VBT Verse 33
The Sutra
"While being caressed, Sweet Princess, enter the caress as everlasting life."
Paul Reps translation, Zen Flesh, Zen Bones (1957)
Understanding
One of the most tender sutras in the entire text. Shiva addresses Devi as "Sweet Princess" and says: when you are being touched lovingly, do not remain on the surface of the sensation. Enter INTO the caress. Go deep into the feeling until you discover that this pleasure is not temporary - it is a taste of everlasting life, of the eternal bliss that is your nature.
Original Sanskrit
लेहनामन्थनाकोटैः स्त्रीसुखस्य भरात्स्मृतेः । शक्त्यभावेऽपि देवेशि भवेदानन्दसम्प्लवः ॥
lehanamanathanaakotaih strisukhasya bharatsmriteh | shaktyabhave api deveshi bhavedanandasamplavah ||
Vijnanabhairava Verse 33 (Technique 10 of 112)
How to Practice
This technique is practiced during moments of loving physical contact - a caress, an embrace, a gentle touch.
Instead of remaining at the surface level of pleasant sensation, bring your full awareness INTO the feeling.
Let the boundary between toucher and touched dissolve. There is only touching happening.
Go deeper into the sensation. Behind the physical pleasure, there is a deeper bliss - timeless, formless.
The instruction "as everlasting life" means: recognize this bliss as not temporary, but as a window into your eternal nature.
This is not about indulgence. It is about using the intensity of loving touch as a doorway to awareness.
Practice with reverence and presence. The body becomes a temple when awareness is total.
Duration
Natural - during moments of loving touch
Best Time
Whenever loving touch occurs naturally
