Lie Down as Dead - Total Stillness
शक्त्या सहेन मिथुनं यदा भवति पार्वती । शून्ये निर्लेपविज्ञाने तदा तत्त्वं प्रकाशते ॥
shaktya sahena mithunam yada bhavati parvati | shunye nirlepavijnane tada tattvam prakashate ||
VBT Verse 32
The Sutra
"Lie down as dead. Enraged in wrath, stay so. Or stare without moving an eyelash. Or suck something and become the sucking."
Paul Reps translation, Zen Flesh, Zen Bones (1957)
Understanding
Four powerful techniques compressed into one sutra, all sharing one principle: become totally what you are doing. Lie down as if dead - no movement, no thought, no identity. Stay frozen in rage without acting on it. Stare without blinking. Suck something and become the act of sucking. In total absorption, the ego disappears and consciousness shines through.

Vijnanabhairava Verse 32 (Technique 9 of 112)
How to Practice
Method 1 - Lie Down as Dead: Lie flat on your back. Imagine you have just died. No movement, no thought, no future.
Let every muscle release. Let go of your name, your story, your plans. You are simply a body returning to the earth.
Method 2 - Frozen in Wrath: When anger arises naturally, do not express it or suppress it. STAY with the energy without moving.
Method 3 - Unblinking Stare: Fix your gaze on any point. Do not blink. Let tears come if they come. Keep staring.
Method 4 - Become the Sucking: Suck a piece of candy or fruit. Let all awareness dissolve into the sensation of sucking itself.
The common thread: total absorption in ONE thing dissolves the ego. Choose the method that resonates most.
