The Sutra
"In moods of extreme desire, be undisturbed."
Paul Reps translation, Zen Flesh, Zen Bones (1957)
Understanding
When extreme desire floods you - sexual desire, craving, obsessive wanting - do not act on it, suppress it, or run from it. Simply remain undisturbed. Be like a mountain in a storm. The desire rages but you are still. This is not repression - you are fully feeling the desire while remaining centered. The energy of desire, unable to move outward, transforms into pure awareness.

Vijnanabhairava Verse 80 (Technique 57 of 112)
How to Practice
Wait for a moment of intense desire - it will come naturally.
When it hits, do not act on it. But also do not push it away.
FEEL the desire completely. Let it burn, rage, pull. But you remain still.
"Undisturbed" does not mean unfeeling. It means feeling fully without being moved.
The desire is the storm. You are the sky. Storms happen in the sky but the sky is never disturbed.
As you remain undisturbed, the energy of desire transforms. It becomes clarity, presence, power.
Duration
Spontaneous - in moments of intense desire
Best Time
Whenever strong desire arises
