VBT Verse 29
The Sutra
"When in worldly activities, keep attention between two breaths, and so practicing, in a few days be born anew."
Paul Reps translation, Zen Flesh, Zen Bones (1957)
Understanding
This is the technique that makes meditation a living practice rather than something confined to a cushion. Shiva says: keep awareness of the breath gap even while doing worldly activities - working, walking, talking. The promise is extraordinary: "in a few days be born anew." A complete transformation through continuous breath awareness in daily life.

Vijnanabhairava Verse 29 (Technique 6 of 112)
How to Practice
Begin your day with 5-10 minutes of seated breath gap awareness (technique 1 or 2).
Then, as you move into daily activities, maintain a background awareness of the breath turning points.
While walking, notice the breath. While eating, notice the breath. While working, let part of your attention rest on the gap.
You do not need to close your eyes or stop what you are doing. Simply keep a thread of awareness on the breath.
When you forget (and you will), simply return without self-criticism. The returning IS the practice.
Over days, this background awareness becomes more natural and continuous.
Shiva says "born anew" - this means your perception of reality fundamentally shifts through this continuous practice.
Duration
All day - continuous background practice
Best Time
Every moment - this is a practice for all of life
