कृत्स्नस्य योऽस्य जगतः सचराचरस्य संहारहेतुरपि कर्ता कृतस्य च तथा सुखदुःखहेतुः । यः पुनरन्तकाले तं शङ्करं शरणदं शरणं व्रजामि ॥
Transliteration
kṛtsnasya yo 'sya jagataḥ sacarācarasya saṃhārahetur api kartā kṛtasya ca tathā sukhaduḥkhahetuḥ | yaḥ punar antakāle taṃ śaṅkaraṃ śaraṇadaṃ śaraṇam vrajāmi ||
Translation
I take refuge in that Lord Shankara, giver of refuge, who is the creator of this entire world with all moving and unmoving beings, the cause of joy and sorrow of what is made, and who is the cause of destruction at the time of the end.

Upon whom yogis - freed from delusion, tamas and rajas, their minds single-pointed in devotion, their desires stilled, intellect steady - meditate as possessing boundless divine glory, I take refuge in that Lord Shankara, giver of refuge.

Who, binding the pure crescent moon of glistening rays into his matted hair, ever bears his most beloved (Ganga) on his head, and who gave half his body to the mountain-king's daughter, I take refuge in that Lord Shankara, giver of refuge.

Who caught upon his head like a garland of quivering flowers the Ganga falling from the sky - pure, beautiful with restless waters, and formidable with great waves - I take refuge in that Lord Shankara, giver of refuge.

Who, having burned Daksha's sacrifice, gouged out Bhaga's eyes, knocked out Pushan's row of teeth, and paralysed great Indra's hand holding the thunderbolt, I take refuge in that Lord Shankara, giver of refuge.
