Verse 1

Sanskrit

सौराष्ट्रे सोमनाथं च श्रीशैले मल्लिकार्जुनम् । उज्जयिन्यां महाकालमोङ्कारममलेश्वरम् ॥ १ ॥

Transliteration

saurāṣṭre somanāthaṃ ca śrīśaile mallikārjunam | ujjayinyāṃ mahākālam oṅkāram amaleśvaram || 1 ||

Translation

Somanatha in Saurashtra, and Mallikarjuna on Shri Shaila; Mahakala in Ujjayini, Omkara, Amaleshvara.

paralyāṃ vaidyanāthaṃ ca ḍākinyāṃ bhīmaśaṅkaram | setubandhe tu rāmeśaṃ nāgeśaṃ dārukāvane || 2 ||

Translation

Vaidyanatha in Parli, and Bhimashankara at Dakini; at Setubandha, Ramesha, and Nagesha in Darukavana.

Vishvesha in Varanasi, Tryambaka on the bank of the Gautami; Kedara in the Himalayas, and Ghushmesha in Shivalaya.

Transliteration

etāni jyotirliṅgāni sāyaṃ prātaḥ paṭhen naraḥ | saptajanmakṛtaṃ pāpaṃ smaraṇena vinaśyati || 4 ||

Translation

Whoever recites these jyotirlingas in the evening and at dawn - the sin accumulated across seven births is destroyed by that remembrance alone.

Deep Meaning

Whoever remembers the names of these twelve jyotirlingas every morning and evening has the sins of seven lives destroyed by the mere remembrance of these lingas.
