वेदसारशिवस्तवः

पशूनां पतिं पापनाशं परेशं गजेन्द्रस्य कृत्तिं वसानं वरेण्यम् । स्फुरद्गाङ्गवारिं महादेवमेकं स्मरामि स्मरारिम् ॥ १ ॥
Transliteration
paśūnāṃ patiṃ pāpanāśaṃ pareśaṃ maheśaṃ sureśaṃ gajendrasya kṛttiṃ vasānaṃ vareṇyam | sphuradgāṅgavāriṃ mahādevam ekaṃ smarāmi smarārim || 1 ||
Translation
I remember the lord of beasts, the destroyer of sin, the supreme lord, the great lord, the lord of gods, who wears the hide of the king of elephants, the most excellent, with the shimmering water of the Ganga, the one Mahadeva, the enemy of Kama.

I remember the one great Mahadeva, the destroyer of Kama, who protects all beings, destroys sin, is the supreme Lord, wears the hide of the king of elephants, is the best, and in whose matted locks the Ganga plays.

maheśaṃ sureśaṃ surārtināśaṃ vibhuṃ viśvanāthaṃ vibhūtyaṅgabhūṣam | virūpākṣam indvarkavahnitrinetraṃ sadānandam īḍe prabhuṃ pañcavaktram || 2 ||
Translation
I praise the great Lord, the Lord of gods, the destroyer of the gods' affliction, the all-pervading lord of the universe, adorned in body with ash, Virupaksha, whose three eyes are the moon, sun and fire, the ever-blissful lord, five-faced.

girīśaṃ gaṇeśaṃ gale nīlavarṇaṃ gavendrādhirūḍhaṃ gaṇātītarūpam | bhavaṃ bhāsvaraṃ bhasmanā bhūṣitāṅgaṃ bhavānīkalatraṃ bhaje pañcavaktram || 3 ||
Translation
I worship the lord of the mountain, lord of the ganas, blue of throat, mounted on the king of bulls, of a form beyond reckoning, Bhava, radiant, his body adorned with ash, Bhavani his consort, five-faced.

I worship the Lord of Kailasa, the Lord of the Ganas, the blue-throated, who rides the bull, who has countless forms, who is the first cause of the world, of the nature of light, smeared with ash, whose half is Parvati.

śivākānta śambho śaśāṅkārdhamaule maheśāna śūlin jaṭājūṭadhārin | tvam eko jagadvyāpako viśvarūpa prasīda prasīda prabho pūrṇarūpa || 4 ||
Translation
O beloved of Shiva(/the auspicious one), Shambhu, moon-half-crowned, O great ruler, trident-bearer, wearer of piled matted locks - you alone pervade the universe, of universal form; be gracious, be gracious, O Lord of perfect form.

Translation
The one Supreme Self, the primal seed of the universe, desireless, formless, knowable through the syllable Om - I worship that Lord from whom the universe is born, by whom it is sustained, and in whom it dissolves.

Who is neither earth, nor water, nor fire, nor air, nor does he rest in space; who has neither drowsiness nor sleep; who has neither summer nor winter, neither place nor dress, nor any form - that Trimurti I praise.

Translation
Unborn, eternal, the cause of causes, auspicious, alone, the illuminator of illuminators, the fourth state, beyond darkness, without beginning or end - I take refuge in that supreme, purifying, non-dual one.

O Lord, trident-handed, all-pervading, lord of the universe, Mahadeva, Shambhu, great lord, three-eyed; beloved of the auspicious one, peaceful, enemy of Kama, enemy of the triple city - other than you, none is to be chosen, none honoured, none counted.

śambho maheśa karuṇāmaya śūlapāṇe gaurīpate paśupate paśupāśanāśin | kāśīpate karuṇayā jagad etad ekas tvaṃ haṃsi pāsi vidadhāsi maheśvaro 'si || 10 ||
Translation
O Shambhu, great lord, full of compassion, trident-handed, lord of Gauri, lord of creatures, destroyer of the bonds of creatures, lord of Kashi - you alone, out of compassion, destroy, protect and ordain this entire universe; you are Maheshvara.

tvatto jagad bhavati deva bhava smarāre tvayy eva tiṣṭhati jagan mṛḍa viśvanātha | tvayy eva gacchati layaṃ jagad etad īśa liṅgātmakaṃ hara carācaraviśvarūpin || 11 ||
Translation
From you, O god, O Bhava, enemy of Kama, this universe comes to be; in you alone it abides, O Mrida, lord of the universe; and into you alone this universe, of the nature of the linga, O Lord, O Hara, whose form is the moving and unmoving universe, goes to its dissolution.
