Verse 1

Sanskrit

नित्यानन्दं परं शान्तं निष्कलं च निरामयम् । व्योमातीतं परं शून्यं भैरवं तं नमाम्यहम् ॥ १॥

Transliteration

nityānandaṁ paraṁ śāntaṁ niṣkalaṁ ca nirāmayam | vyōmātītaṁ paraṁ śūnyaṁ bhairavaṁ taṁ namāmyaham || 1 ||

Translation

Eternal bliss, supreme peace, without parts, without disease, beyond space, the supreme void, I bow to that Bhairava.

Verse 2

Sanskrit

परात्परतरं शान्तं शुद्धमत्यन्तनिर्मलम् । भूतं येन जगत्सर्वं भैरवं तं नमाम्यहम् ॥ २॥

Transliteration

parātparataraṁ śāntaṁ śuddhamatyantanirmalam | bhūtaṁ yēna jagatsarvaṁ bhairavaṁ taṁ namāmyaham || 2 ||

Translation

Beyond the beyond, peaceful, pure, utterly immaculate, by whom the entire universe has come into being, I bow to that Bhairava.

Verse 3

Sanskrit

इडापिङ्गलयोर्मध्ये निश्वाशोच्छ्वासचारिणम् । द्वादशान्ते लयं यस्य भैरवं तं नमाम्यहम् ॥ ३॥

Transliteration

iḍāpiṅgalayōrmadhyē niśvāsōcchvāsacāriṇam | dvādaśāntē layaṁ yasya bhairavaṁ taṁ namāmyaham || 3 ||

Translation

Moving as breath between Ida and Pingala (the two nadis), dissolving at the twelfth point (dvadashanta), I bow to that Bhairava.

Verse 4

Sanskrit

कुण्डल्यां तु लयं यस्य परान्ते विलयं पुनः । हरत्यमृतरूपेण भैरवं तं नमाम्यहम् ॥ ४॥

Transliteration

kuṇḍalyāṁ tu layaṁ yasya parāntē vilayaṁ punaḥ | haratyamṛtarūpēṇa bhairavaṁ taṁ namāmyaham || 4 ||

Translation

Who dissolves in the Kundalini and again dissolves at the supreme end, who carries away (transforms) in the form of nectar, I bow to that Bhairava.

Verse 5

Sanskrit

अकुलाकुलसम्भूतं कुलोत्पत्तिविवर्जितम् । विश्वरूपं परं नित्यं भैरवं तं नमाम्यहम् ॥ ५॥ कलाकलङ्करहितं निर्विकारं निरञ्जनम् । शून्याच्छून्यतरं शून्यं भैरवं तं नमाम्यहम् ॥ ६॥

Transliteration

akulākulasambhūtaṁ kulōtpattivivarjitam | viśvarūpaṁ paraṁ nityaṁ bhairavaṁ taṁ namāmyaham || 5 || kalākalaṅkarahitaṁ nirvikāraṁ nirañjanam | śūnyācchūnyataraṁ śūnyaṁ bhairavaṁ taṁ namāmyaham || 6 ||

Translation

Born of Akula (the absolute) and Kula (the manifest), yet free from the arising of lineage, the universal form, supreme, eternal, I bow to that Bhairava. Free from the stain of time-divisions, changeless, immaculate, the void more void than the void, I bow to that Bhairava.

Verse 6

Sanskrit

आपातालमूर्ध्निस्थं कन्दनालसमास्तृतम् । हंसरूपं निराभासं भैरवं तं नमाम्यहम् ॥ ७॥ आकाशज्योतिमारूढं व्योमातीतं निरामयम् । व्योमव्यापि परंव्योम भैरवं तं नमाम्यहम् ॥ ८॥

Transliteration

āpātalamūrdhniṣṭhaṁ kandanālasamāstṛtam | haṁsarūpaṁ nirābhāsaṁ bhairavaṁ taṁ namāmyaham || 7 || ākāśajyōtimārūḍhaṁ vyōmātītaṁ nirāmayam | vyōmavyāpi paraṁvyōma bhairavaṁ taṁ namāmyaham || 8 ||

Translation

Extending from the netherworld to the crown, spread through the stem of the Kanda (root bulb), in Hamsa form, without reflection, I bow to that Bhairava. Mounted upon the light of space, beyond space, disease-free, pervading space, the supreme space, I bow to that Bhairava.

Verse 7

Sanskrit

चन्द्रार्कवह्निमध्यस्थं दृष्टादृष्टैकगोचरम् । रूपारूपविनिर्मुक्तं भैरवं तं नमाम्यहम् ॥ ९॥ नाडिकार्णवसम्भूतं मन्त्रजालप्रकाशस्थ । अतीतगोचरं शम्भुं भैरवं तं नमाम्यहम् ॥ १०॥

Transliteration

candrārkavahnimadyasthaṁ dṛṣṭādṛṣṭaikagōcaram | rūpārūpavinirmuktaṁ bhairavaṁ taṁ namāmyaham || 9 || nāḍikārṇavasambhūtaṁ mantrajālaprakāśastha | atītagōcaraṁ śambhuṁ bhairavaṁ taṁ namāmyaham || 10 ||

Translation

Situated in the center of moon, sun, and fire, perceived by both the seen and unseen, free from form and formlessness, I bow to that Bhairava. Born from the ocean of nadis, situated in the luminescence of mantra-webs, beyond the reach of the senses, Shambhu, I bow to that Bhairava.

Verse 8

Sanskrit

हकारार्द्धं परं सूक्ष्मं परानन्दं परात्परम् । परस्यान्ते परे लीनं भैरवं तं नमाम्यहम् ॥ ११॥ घण्टिकान्ते परं शान्तं ब्रह्मरन्ध्रविनिर्गतम् । आकाशं निर्मलं सूक्ष्मं भैरवं तं नमाम्यहम् ॥ १२॥

Transliteration

hakārārddhaṁ paraṁ sūkṣmaṁ parānandaṁ parātparam | parasyāntē parē līnaṁ bhairavaṁ taṁ namāmyaham || 11 || ghaṇṭikāntē paraṁ śāntaṁ brahmarandhravinirgatam | ākāśaṁ nirmalaṁ sūkṣmaṁ bhairavaṁ taṁ namāmyaham || 12 ||

Translation

The half of Ha-kara, supreme, subtle, supreme bliss, beyond the beyond, dissolved in the supreme at the end of the supreme, I bow to that Bhairava. At the end of the bell-sound, supremely peaceful, emerging from the Brahmarandhra, the sky, immaculate, subtle, I bow to that Bhairava.

Verse 9

Sanskrit

अखण्डनिर्मलं शुद्धं कलाकल्पविवर्जितम् । नित्यं प्रमेयरहितं भैरवं तं नमाम्यहम् ॥ १३॥ यथा भानुगतो रश्मिर्व्यापयेन्निखिलं जगत् । तथा सर्वगतं देवं भैरवं तं नमाम्यहम् ॥ १४॥

Transliteration

akhaṇḍanirmalaṁ śuddhaṁ kalākalpvivarjitam | nityaṁ pramēyarahitaṁ bhairavaṁ taṁ namāmyaham || 13 || yathā bhānugatō raśmirvyāpayēnnikhilaṁ jagat | tathā sarvagatam dēvaṁ bhairavaṁ taṁ namāmyaham || 14 ||

Translation

Undivided, immaculate, pure, free from time-divisions and imaginations, eternal, beyond measurement, I bow to that Bhairava. As the sun pervades the entire world through its rays, so is this all-pervading deity, I bow to that Bhairava.

Verse 10

Sanskrit

नादान्तबिन्दुसंलीनं शक्त्यातीतमगोचरम् । मालिन्यङ्गसमुद्भूतं भैरवं तं नमाम्यहम् ॥ १५॥ अनिलानलसंयुक्तं व्यापकं परमेश्वरम् । भुवनत्रयसंलीनं भैरवं तं नमाम्यहम् ॥ १६॥

Transliteration

nādāntabindusaṁlīnaṁ śaktyātītamagōcaram | mālinayaṅgasamudbhūtaṁ bhairavaṁ taṁ namāmyaham || 15 || anilānalasaṁyuktaṁ vyāpakaṁ paramēśvaram | bhuvanatrayasaṁlīnaṁ bhairavaṁ taṁ namāmyaham || 16 ||

Translation

Absorbed in the bindu at the end of nada, beyond Shakti, imperceptible, born from the body of Malini, I bow to that Bhairava. United with wind and fire, all-pervading, the Supreme Lord, dissolved in the three worlds, I bow to that Bhairava.

Verse 11

Sanskrit

अकारादिक्षकारान्तं कुलपिण्डसमुद्भवम् । कारात्रिशस्वरूपस्थं भैरवं तं नमाम्यहम् ॥ १७॥ यथा जलगता सूर्यश्चन्द्रश्चाप्सु व्यवस्थितः । तथा सर्वगतं देवं भैरवं तं नमाम्यहम् ॥ १८॥

Transliteration

akārādikṣakārāntaṁ kulapiṇḍasamudbhavam | kārātriśasvarūpasthaṁ bhairavaṁ taṁ namāmyaham || 17 || yathā jalagalā sūryaścandraścāpsu vyavasthitaḥ | tathā sarvagataṁ dēvaṁ bhairavaṁ taṁ namāmyaham || 18 ||

Translation

From A-kara to Ksha-kara (the complete alphabet), born from the kula-pinda, situated in the form of the thirty karas, I bow to that Bhairava. As the sun and moon are reflected in water, so is this all-pervading deity, I bow to that Bhairava.

Verse 12

Sanskrit

यथा चाग्निगतं तेजो यथा वायुः स्वरूपतः । तथा सर्वगतं देवं भैरवं तं नमाम्यहम् ॥ १९॥ पृथिव्यापस्तथा तेजो वायुराकाश एव च । पञ्चभूतगतं देवं भैरवं तं नमाम्यहम् ॥ २०॥

Transliteration

yathā cāgnigataṁ tējō yathā vāyuḥ svarūpataḥ | tathā sarvagataṁ dēvaṁ bhairavaṁ taṁ namāmyaham || 19 || pṛthivyāpastathā tējō vāyurākāśa ēva ca | pañcabhūtagataṁ dēvaṁ bhairavaṁ taṁ namāmyaham || 20 ||

Translation

As radiance exists in fire, as wind is by its nature, so is this all-pervading deity, I bow to that Bhairava. Earth, water, fire, wind, and space, the deity present in all five elements, I bow to that Bhairava.

Verse 13

Sanskrit

शब्दस्पर्शरूपरसगन्धतन्मात्रपञ्चकम् । एतद्व्याप्य स्थितं देवं भैरवं तं नमाम्यहम् ॥ २१॥ वाक्पाणिपादपायूपस्थपञ्चकसंस्थितम् । पञ्चकर्मेन्द्रियैः संस्थं भैरवं तं नमाम्यहम् ॥ २२॥

Transliteration

śabdasparśarūparasagandhatanmātrapañcakam | ētadvyāpya sthitaṁ dēvaṁ bhairavaṁ taṁ namāmyaham || 21 || vākpāṇipādapāyūpasthapañcakasaṁsthitam | pañcakarmēndriyaiḥ saṁsthaṁ bhairavaṁ taṁ namāmyaham || 22 ||

Translation

Sound, touch, form, taste, smell, the five subtle elements, pervading all these, the deity exists, I bow to that Bhairava. Established in speech, hands, feet, excretion, reproduction, existing through the five organs of action, I bow to that Bhairava.

Verse 14

Sanskrit

श्रोत्रं त्वक् चक्षुषी जिह्वा घ्राणं चैव तु पञ्चमम् । पञ्चेन्द्रियसुसम्भूतं भैरवं तं नमाम्यहम् ॥ २३॥ कामः क्रोधस्तथा लोभो मोहश्चैव चतुष्टयम् । अन्तःकरणसम्भूतं भैरवं तं नमाम्यहम् ॥ २४॥

Transliteration

śrōtraṁ tvak cakṣuṣī jihvā ghrāṇaṁ caiva tu pañcamam | pañcēndriyasusambhūtaṁ bhairavaṁ taṁ namāmyaham || 23 || kāmaḥ krōdhastathā lōbhō mōhaścaiva catuṣṭayam | antaḥkaraṇasambhūtaṁ bhairavaṁ taṁ namāmyaham || 24 ||

Translation

Hearing, touch, sight, taste, smell, the fifth, born well from the five sense organs, I bow to that Bhairava. Desire, anger, greed, and delusion, the four, born from the inner instrument (antahkarana), I bow to that Bhairava.

Verse 15

Sanskrit

पक्षिकीटैस्तथा वृक्षैर्लतागुल्मसरीसृपैः । सर्वं व्याप्य स्थितं शम्भुं भैरवं तं नमाम्यहम् ॥ २५॥ विकल्पकल्परहितं कल्पनातीतगोचरम् । विकल्परहितं शान्तं भैरवं तं नमाम्यहम् ॥ २६॥

Transliteration

pakṣikīṭaistathā vṛkṣairlatāgulmasarīsṛpaiḥ | sarvaṁ vyāpya sthitaṁ śambhuṁ bhairavaṁ taṁ namāmyaham || 25 || vikalpaklaparahitaṁ kalpanātītagōcaram | vikalparahitaṁ śāntaṁ bhairavaṁ taṁ namāmyaham || 26 ||

Translation

In birds, insects, trees, vines, shrubs, and serpents, pervading all, Shambhu exists, I bow to that Bhairava. Free from conceptual alternatives, beyond the range of imagination, free from mental constructs, peaceful, I bow to that Bhairava.

Verse 16

Sanskrit

युगान्तं युगरूपेण अक्षयं चाव्यवस्थितम् । सर्वव्यापि परं ब्रह्म भैरवं तं नमाम्यहम् ॥ २७॥ सर्वतत्त्वगतं सूक्ष्मं ज्ञानध्यानपरायाणम् । निर्लक्षं परमं शुद्धं भैरवं तं नमाम्यहम् ॥ २८॥

Transliteration

yugāntaṁ yugarūpēṇa akṣayaṁ cāvyavasthitam | sarvavyāpi paraṁ brahma bhairavaṁ taṁ namāmyaham || 27 || sarvatattvagatam sūkṣmaṁ jñānadhyānaparāyāṇam | nirlaṣaṁ paramaṁ śuddhaṁ bhairavaṁ taṁ namāmyaham || 28 ||

Translation

The end of ages in the form of ages, imperishable, beyond fixed states, all-pervading supreme Brahman, I bow to that Bhairava. Present in all tattvas, subtle, devoted to knowledge and meditation, without any mark, supreme, pure, I bow to that Bhairava.

Verse 17

Sanskrit

सिद्धमातरर्योगिन्यैर्गुह्यकैः पालकैस्तथा । पूजितं पादपद्मं च भैरवं तं नमाम्यहम् ॥ २९॥ एवं देव्या स्तुतः शम्भुः परानन्दाकुलेक्षणम् । भैरवो हृष्टमनसा प्रोत्फुल्लकमलानन्ः ॥ ३०॥ प्रसन्नो वरदो देवो वाक्यं चेदमुवाच ह । साधु साधु महाभागे तुष्टोऽहं भक्तवत्सले ॥ ३१॥

Transliteration

siddhamātaryōginairguhyakaiḥ pālakaistatā | pūjitaṁ pādapadmaṁ ca bhairavaṁ taṁ namāmyaham || 29 || ēvaṁ dēvyā stutaḥ śambhuḥ parānandākulēkṣaṇam | bhairavō hṛṣṭamanasā prōtphullakamālānandaḥ || 30 || prasannō varadō dēvō vākyaṁ cēdamuvāca ha | sādhu sādhu mahābhāgē tuṣṭō'haṁ bhaktavatsalē || 31 ||

Translation

Whose lotus feet are worshipped by Siddha Mothers, Yoginis, Guhyakas, and protectors, I bow to that Bhairava. Thus praised by Devi, Shambhu, with eyes overflowing with supreme bliss, Bhairava, delighted in heart, face blossoming like a lotus, pleased, the boon-giving deity spoke these words: "Well done, well done, O greatly fortunate one, I am pleased, O lover of devotees."
