Trinetra means "three-eyed" (tri = three. netra = eye). The third eye (ājñā chakra) symbolizes the eye of wisdom that sees beyond physical reality into the spiritual dimension. The two physical eyes see duality, division, subject and object. The third eye sees unity, non-duality, the underlying oneness. Trinetra Bhairava is the teaching that this inner eye can be awakened through practice, revealing dimensions of reality invisible to ordinary perception.
